CHARLESTON, West Virginia - Joe Cowley is currently serving as mission president of the West Virginia Charleston Mission. "We have 60 areas, and each of those areas has two Mormon missionaries that you see with name tags," he said. "They knock on people's doors and help them meet people of our Church and help them to be closer to our Savior." But being in charge of 120 missionaries isn't the only thing keeping him busy these days. Over the weekend, he participated in the Public Courts Tournament with tennis partner George Davis and won the 65 men's doubles.
I wasn't able to access the link, which was archived and requires a subscription. I love the idea that this mission president is using his high profile, which is a result of his tennis accomplishments, to promote missionary service for the Church.
