'Racist' marriage law upheld by Israel
Israel's High Court has narrowly upheld a law denying Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza married to Israeli citizens the right to live in the country with their spouses. The judges voted by six to five not to cancel a four-year-old amendment to the Citizenship Law which outlaws "family unification" in Israel between Palestinians and Arab citizens of Israel.

Remember this law when you think that its all Palestines fault for the fighting. Its unsettling to see that some countries that claim to be democratic still hold to such archaic principles. Their ideal is religious in that you should not marry out side your race or faith. It is now backed up in law as well as religious principle.
I don't understand how this law could possibly be held up in court, considering it is rendered meaningless as the spouse of a Jew can claim aliyah under the Law of Return (section 4A(a)). It would still hold weight for non-Jewish Israeli citizens, but that seems to run counter to the apparently racist desires of this law.
