Accepting Us As Christians

The name of the church bears the name of Jesus Christ and so too does the Book of Mormon. We teach about Christ and share him in videos, film, scripture and yet the world finds it difficult to accept us as christians. What is it about us do you think we need to change for the world to understand that we are christians?

It could be that we talk to much Mormon dictionary words and don't mention Jesus Christ enough.

That could be. Maybe we need to also share our testimony about Christ more and less about Joseph Smith and the Book of Momron unless we are actually telling someone about those specifically.

Amen to that! I can't count the number of times I have been to Church and never heard the name of Jesus Christ uttered more that maybe once or twice and that was just because of prayers.

First they need to understand what the Real name of our church is. (That it isn't the Mormon Church, or LDS, but the full name).

Next, we need to get them to actually READ the Book of Mormon, looking at its cover I guess is a start, but actually reading the book shows who and what we worship.

I think sharing the Joseph Smith experience is central to our church. We just need to make sure we are talking them that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith.

In the end, its going to be tough because most other Christians see us as worshiping a difference Christ (We have more scripture, we view Christ as a body, and so forth). These in the end tend to separate us, not because we aren't Christians, but because we are different Christian then they are (or so they see).

But in the end, it should be our actions as a follower of Christ that should show them that we are Christians, and our Testimony of restored truth!

Those are some very good points tubaloth with the name of the church being an important one. People always see us as "the Mormons" and not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The problem here is that hardcore Christians do not believe we worship the same God as they do. And they are right, albeit only on a technical level.

You will find this article, indeed their entire website to be quite helpful in understanding this question. [link removed]

It is truly fruitless to debate the issue. No matter what you say, they will still believe you worship a foreign God and an alien Jesus Christ.

Maybe we just need to watch what we say around non members. Make sure that when we share our testimony that we focus on talking about Christ.
