Using Oils For Body Pictures
Some photographers like to use body oil to give a glow / shine or bring out curves in physique related photographs. Do you as a photographer prefer the natural look or use of oils when taking pictures of models for sports and other themes?
I guess I'm old fashioned, but our teacher in photography class was very much a naturalist. She didn't believe in creating a false picture of someone unless the picture specifically called for it. Such as in one instance, the pictures we took were at sunset, thus she wanted the last rays to gleam of our face or off the face of our model. This required oil for that specific type of shot. But for the regular shots, oil was never used, the persons natural skin would better represent them. So generally, I am against using oils in pictures of people, though there are some shots that require it.
