List Female Selected - The Sings Who

Hmm, this is a hard one, but I'm going with Tina. I love the song she did for "Mad Max, Beyond Thunderdome." And it seems she just puts more heart into her songs. With a couple of the others, it seems more about showing off their voices, and less about the song.

Whitney Houston, without a doubt. Her song, "I Will Always Love You", is a good example of her strong and vibrant voice. She has no rival, in my opinion.

Although Tina Turner is a veteran she has a hoarse voice (maybe due to age) that does not appeal to me, so in this list I will go with Whitney Houston. Valla was correct in using that sound title by Whitney Houston as an example of her best vocal chords - she is the best of the list in my opinion.

Whitney Houston, followed closely by Mariah Carey would get my vote.
They both have a powerful voice, and both have a unique voice too, in my opinion.
I haven't heard of Fiona Apple, she may be a really good singer, but I don't know, as I haven't heard her sing.

For range and sheer talent I'd say it's a tie between Whitney and Mariah, but for heart I'll pick Tina Turner, raspy voice and all. She's sounded the same since she was very young, JB, I don't think it has anything to do with age.

I've never even heard of Fiona Apple.

Whitney Houston gets my vote all the way. I cry almost any time I hear her sing "I Will Always Love You" and think her voice is amazing. Mariah Carey does have a beautiful voice though, and in my opinion, she is a very close second.

I would also have to agree that Whitney is the better singer. "I Will Always Love You" is a heart string puller. Her range on that is amazing. If I only had half the talent she had I wouldn't be wasting it on a drug addiction. Having said that, I do think that Fiona Apple has a unique voice. Her song "Criminal" is really good.
