There is an old military saying that "there are no atheists in foxholes." I can testify, from personal experience, that going into a combat zone makes a person really think about their spiritual condition.

I have heard from many military people that your saying is very true. When you're out there with bullets flying at you and seeing your friends die right next to you, you pray for the help of something or someone.
Did you know that atheists generally are offended by this statement? I off course am not, but a friend of mine marched in this parade for "Atheists in Foxholes".
