Luckily for Denver, they find themselves in a very weak NorthWest Division, and hold the #3 seed in the Western Conference standings to-date. Carmelo Anthony has done well to lead his team from the ashes of the West similar to what Lebron James has done with the Cavaliers. However, Anthony is also blessed with more surrounding talent than Lebron like Andre Miller, Kenyon Martin and Marcus Camby. George Carl is a good fit as head coach for this young team, and with a 5 game lead in the division, they are well on their way to this year's playoffs. Post your perspectives of the Nuggets here.
I am from Colorado, and I lost faith and interest in the Nuggets years ago. Our joke here is, "What do the Rockies, the Avalanche, the Nuggets and the Broncos have in common? None of them can play basketball." I have a hard time getting excited about them, even when they're doing well right now.
Well howe, I think you can start having more faith now in the Nuggets, more so than the Rockies. When was the last time the Rockies reached the post-season? With the addition of Carmelo Anthony, the Nuggets have greatly improved, and if Camby can stay healthy, and Miler and Martin contribute regularly, they really have a good chance.
I definitely hope there are enough balls to go around once Anthony gets back from suspension! However, they did trade quite a bit away to get Iverson, so they will definitely lean on him. The one thing that hit me with this trade is how bad off Denver will be now if any of the key players go down or get suspended in the future! The 2 no 1 picks was also a bit pricey, I thought.
