Social network sites face US ban
Children in the US could be banned from using social networking sites in schools and libraries by a new law. The Deleting Online Predators Act tries to limit the access paedophiles have to the networking sites which have become hugely popular with minors. The act has already been approved by a large majority in the House of Representatives.

The link will not work for me. If the law prohibits networking sites from schools and libraries only, I'm not sure how effective it will be in curbing what they hope to control. Perhaps it will to a degree, but I think most kids have access to the internet and networking sites from their own homes. My bet is that nothing much comes from it. Disclaimer: Since I didn't read the article, I could be way off base.
I know from experience that a lot of school kids while in school access this site. Fortunate for them they will find wholesome content here, unfortunate for them there is the rest of the net with all the filth you can imagine. I do think that accessing Communities (even hours) should not be done during school hours as it can be much to distracting and also limit the student's understanding of what is fact, fiction and simply opinion.
