BREECH BABIES
PREGNANCY EXAM MISSES BREECH BABIES: STUDY
Doctors don't detect some breech babies because the usual exam to check if a baby is facing headfirst is not sensitive enough, researchers say.

This is an example of yet another test that will make doctors and hospitals even more money, as if they don't make enough. Notice that I didn't say unnecessary test, because I can't decide how I feel about it. I agree that 70% accuracy rate is low, however, before ultrasound and for thousands of years, this method of identifying breach births has been standard. I think the test should be offered as an option to the parents, with option being the primary word. In my experience, doctors like to make something sound absolutely necessary, when it really isn't.
