I would recommend the Memphis zoo as a nice place to visit and have a nice day of seeing the many different animals and enjoying the outdoors while there. I had a nice time wandering around and seeing the animals and even spent a fair amount of time watching the polar bears.

There is an exotic animal rescue park outside of Nashville that is awesome too. They used to allow visitors almost every day but I think now you can only go on special days. There is also Land Between the Lakes. What a great place to visit. They have a large bison herd, largest east of the Mississippi. They have elk. It's an awesome place to camp, boat, hunt, fish, or just for a picnic.
