Madonna delighted some and appalled others in Rome on Sunday with a controversial concert that included a mock crucifixion of the 47-year-old pop star.

Crucifixion Mock Maddonas

I suppose people will never learn. I'm sure some christian or catholic group will now publicly boycott Madonna's music and concerts. Which will intern draw more attention, more publicity, and in turn, free advertising which leads to more money. She does this for money, to get attention, and boost sales. These crazy stunts always work because she draws more attention to her self and the religious people who hate it do all the work for her. Did she go to far? Maybe. But speech is free, especially when someone hates it. If people didn't make such a big deal about it, she wouldn't do it because it would net her nothing. There are no religious implications involved in this, only money to be made by the free publicity. There is a saying that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and I believe thats true.

"If they allowed her to stage the show here, they must also play by her rules."
I thought the saying was, "when in Rome" - not 'when at Madonna's whim'.

Let's face it, if any performer did something that disrespectful repeatedly implicating the prophet Mohammed, there would be bombings, worldwide.

Of course there are religious implications - saying that it's okay to mock Christianity because we won't get violent, is not acceptable.

That some people like it, does not make an action good... and claiming "free speech" is not an acceptable excuse either, or nobody would ever have stood up against Hitler, because he ought to have 'freedom of speech and expression' - and it was the 'will of the German people' at the time, wasn't it?
