What Drove Early Man Across Globe Climate Change

Some of the biggest human migrations coincided with major changes in climate, according to a new analysis. Researchers say early humans set out in search of climates where more food was available. And some populations stayed put in certain locations because barriers like glaciers blocked their progress.

Thinking about the challenges our ancestors had to withstand in ancient times makes me wonder how humanity could survive and create a thriving civilization. Many other species didn't make it through climate changes or natural selection. Most of the animals that the first humans knew are now extinct even if, in some cases, they were more adapted to face extreme climates. I know this could sound like an insult for somebody, but I would compare Homo Sapiens to rats and cockroaches: no matter what, these species always find a way to survive and spread again.

Unless you go with theory that we were monitored, protected and taught by a superior race even if secretly to adapt or survive it.

Mmmmhhh.... I'm not an enthusiast of this kind of theories, they tend to merge with religion and I'm a convinced atheist. I rather believe that humankind had its good deal of luck in the early stages of our history. Or we can put it in a statistics way: out of the several species of Homo present in the prehistoric world, only one subspecie survived the natural challenges and gave origin to modern Men

Religion? Who said anything about religion. I'm talking a superior race and we are the test tube or the embryo if you like. Not to be child-like and use a movie as an example but Prometheus is a good example of where I'm coming from.

No, that's not childish. As far as we know, that's a theory as good as any other. But, personally, I would propend more for the "Natural selection" choice. When I said the alien's theory would merge with religion, I meant that if we imagine a superior race that guided our specie at various stages of its development we will face the same unanswered questions put by religions. I'm more for the rules of chance and chaos rather than for an intelligent external intervention.

What about underground caverns that are capable of proving heat, water and maybe enough light to grow food or possibly keep small herds. Early man could have survived this way. Pregnancies would have been really rough.
