Joe Rosenthal has some of the most prolific and memorable photo's ever taken in a war. There are statues created from his pictures from wartime. The Iwo Jima flag raising is obviously the most famous of them all. That picture has been redone on canvas and sculpted out of brass. It represents the human spirit in time of war and the triumph of the United States over an enemy. While the enemy at the time was Japan, it has come to be an Icon of the American spirit triumphing over huge odds.
