One of the largest pieces this looked at was obesity. Does anyone else think that maybe the woman who is juggling a full-time career, motherhood and a long-term relationship doesn't have time to even make let-alone consume a meal? Seriously, though -- I think this article is very misleading in the fact that it speaks about "health" and really only speaks about not being obese.

One thing that also was not covered is the stress factor, which can play a big part in a person's health. My opinion is that the mother who is juggling all of these things would have a higher stress level, which could lead to decreased health. I agree that this study only focused on one factor; weight. Unfortunately, there could have been a lot more factors involved other than working mom vs homemaker. I'm not sure I buy what this article is trying to sell.

Healthy Mothers Working

Very misleading article. As it was stated before, they only focused on weight where in fact there are so many other issues that these women go through, as Malexander pointed out, they do not even mention the stress level. I suppose is another cheap propaganda to get the woman out and work even if she has the opportunity to stay home with the children.

Healthy Mothers Working

I agree, that this is mainly been worked out around weight, and I think that little consideration has been given as to what type of full time job the women have been doing. I think that this should be a major issue, as not all jobs are the same. For example, when I worked as a full time Nanny for one particular family, I was looking after twins of 18 months, and their brother who was 10 months older, so therefore there were 3 children aged 2 1/2 and under, who I was entertaining, playing, chasing with all day. Then, there was the cooking, cleaning, the families ironing, play groups to attend, beds to change, bottoms to clean, kids to dress, baths to be done etc etc.
I had to travel an hour each way to home/work, so that was an extra 10 hours a week out of my home that my boss didn't need to do, on top of doing a 50 hour working week. When my boss came home from work, she came home to everything having been done, including the kids in their pyjamas, and already bathed and fed.Her job involved her answering the phone, and entertaining clients at a posh restaurant, but was still a full time job.
By the end of her working week, she was still nice and fresh, and full of energy. When my weekend came I was absolutely exhausted!

My intention isn't to belittle one job, against raising up the other, but rather to point out, that as in all walks of life, there are jobs that are more 'cushy' than others, that are therefore less taxing and less demanding on the person than other jobs, that are so stressful, they have a long term detrimental effect on the person.

I was lucky that I enjoyed my job, and my boss used to joke how she didn't need to work, it was just more preferential to her to be out of the house, and having a break from her kids. It worked well for us.

I think that this survey has generalized too much, and not looked at the full picture.
