That's a fair question. Maybe they were so far away from home base that there was no help to get or better yet the whole Roswell thing was just a fabrication to hide a military experiment.

Probably because the 'alien pals' were afraid that if they have to save their 'friend' they will have to visit Earth in order for that happen. Or maybe these aliens back in the Roswell incident were on their own and no body were there to help them but if that was the case then why?
