BAND LEADER, TRUMPETER MAYNARD FERGUSON DIES
Big band leader and jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson, who played with Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Kenton and recorded the Rocky theme song, has died at the age of 78.

I thought I recognized his name, he did the Rocky Theme! Having seen all the Rocky movies, I am intimately familiar with the theme song. I didn't realize he had played with so many greats in his lifetime. Having the chance to be a part of so many great musical acts and songs is something that makes him stand apart from everyone else. You have to have talent when all those greats want to play with you.
