My heart just aches for her -- but maybe especially for her parents. They have a long road ahead of them, adjusting to the different forms of grief - first complete disappearance, and now the knowledge that all this time she was alive and tortured. That now she is psychologically unstable, and I read she doesn't want too much interaction with her parents. How do they keep sane, themselves?

Wow, this story will be a movie for sure. Sometimes I look at these situations and think to myself JB you have no problems in life, just look at this person. Stories like this also remind me how important it is to always leave family members on a good note as you can never know when you will see them again.

This is really terrible, I don't think that anybody could really ever fully recover from something like this.
It sounds like her abuser took the easy option out, once the girl had escaped, because he knew full well that his arrest would probably be imminent.
I feel so sorry for this girl and her family, I would think that she will probably end up changing her identity, it can't be easy with the whole world knowing her identity, and guessing and talking about the abuse that she has suffered.
