Tokyo Sky Tree tops 500 meters during construction

The Tokyo Sky Tree tower, under construction in Tokyo's Sumida Ward and already the tallest building in Japan, topped the 500-meter mark Wednesday, its operator said. Tobu Tower Sky Tree Co said the new communications tower reached the height of 511 meters as builders worked on the top part of its main section.
They docked a lightning conductor and an antivibration device with the "gain tower" -- to be fitted with antennas for terrestrial digital broadcasting -- that was pulled from the ground to the top inside the structure. (Japan Today)

Individual ticket reservations for the Tokyo Sky Tree, the world's tallest free-standing tower, which will open to the public in two months, became available on Thursday. About 8,000 people can visit the tower in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, each day. It is possible that reservations will exceed capacity, travel agency sources said. If this occurs, people who reserve tickets will be granted admission at random. (Yomiuri)
