I do not think Warren Jeffs incarceration will put an end to this practice though. All that is happening now to Jeffs is seen as 'religious persecution' to his crew and they have things in place for them to continue to manage their order and society.
Actually, from the documentary I saw on this group they are very self sufficient in their own town where they bother no one. I think this is why they have existed for so long. In order for the government to put an end to this they would basically have to do what they did many years ago - bring in the police / military and start moving out the leadership, disband homes, break down walls and so forth - will that happen - I am still looking on.
As I said, I don't think the group has any problems as long as there are not any women or girls reporting or claiming any improprieties and they do not flaunt it to the world. Should there be a upswell in women that have become disenchanted with the life style and they make claims against the men of the community...then there will be more that find them in the situation that Jeffs is in. Also, as long as the community is small like it is, I don't see the government wasting money to go after these guys. However, if all the sudden, there is a large migration of like minded people to the area and the numbers that practice this form of marriage dramatically starts to increase...then the government will have to do something.
The government has known where they are at all along. It was only the claims of these women that got the government hot on to Jeffs tail. Basically, a victim/victims came forth in the supposedly victimless crime and the government had to act. Edited: Vincenzo on 19th Sep, 2007 - 10:20am
Warren looks freaky and he is sick to have done this to these girls I hope he gets locked up for a long long time.

EDITORIAL: A VERDICT ON ABUSE
The Warren Jeffs case basically boils down to a 14-year-old girl who was raped by a man she was forced to marry. On Tuesday, a St. George jury convicted Jeffs of two felony counts of rape as an accomplice. The verdict, as Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff explained, says `no one is above the law; religion is not an excuse for abuse; and every victim has a right to be heard.`

According to what I am hearing now on CNN Waren Jeffs has made a confession in jail that he is NOT a prophet! I wonder how the fundamentalist feel about that? I wonder if this is a ploy to say that someone else will take over their church and act as prophet?
