At first, taking all the children out seemed a bit harsh. However, in hind-sight it definitely was warranted. It just goes to show the old saying that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Well, Jeffs will have a lot of time to mull over his actions.
FLDS haven't lost faith in Warren Jeffs
HILDALE, Washington County - The FLDS faithful held a very unusual closed-door session on the Utah-Arizona border Wednesday in an apparent emergency reaction to Tuesday's sentence of life in prison for their leader. Warren Jeffs was booked into the Texas State Prison system Tuesday night - his head shaven - following his conviction of sexually abusing two underage brides. He will be eligible for parole when he's 100 years old. Ref. Source 7
I know he always had issues with eating and drinking since he has been in prison (because he fasts constantly) but if he keeps it up he will probably die soon.
Sex banned until Warren Jeffs' prison walls crumble, FLDS relatives say
According to Holm, Fundamentalist LDS Church members also face their faith's most severe punishment, excommunication, if they conceive a child. It's one of the strangest edicts in a season full of them. Jeffs has issued a stream of revelations, prophecies and orders to his congregation in the border community of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz. Ref. Source 5
As the new year dawned, somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 people were reportedly told they are not righteous enough to attend regular meetings of the Fundamentalist LDS Church.
One man in the blackballed group claims his wife and 10 children were taken away from his home by FLDS leaders at 3 a.m. One recent morning. Private investigator Sam Brower said the man called him in tears. Ref. Source 5
This should be a wake-up call for all the members of the FLDS that they aren't following who they thought they might be following. Jeffs is obviously trying to bring down the house because he is miserable. Reminds me of someone else we all read about in the Bible.
