EUROPE'S SPACECRAFT HITS THE MOON
Europe's first spacecraft to the moon ended its three-year mission Sunday by crashing into the lunar surface in a volcanic plane called the Lake of Excellence, to a round of applause in the mission control room in Germany.

This has got to be very exciting for them. We have lost some of our enthusiasm for space travel with all the accidents and the fact that we have now sent crafts to the moon and Mars. But for them, this is a huge accomplishment for their country. I remember how excited I was to see the pictures of the Mars landing, but for them, this is the first time landing on anything in space, it must be something really special for them.
