JB, I know the guy have been in politics for a long time. I know he is not the new kid on the block, in any case, he was never Prime Minister...that's why I think everybody should give him a chance. If I was a Trini, I would vote him NOT because I think he is a good person for the job but just because I am sick tired of the same old people leading the country. We need someone who has never been in the capacity before!
Here is a funny thing... the last time we had a new leader was Robinson and he took the country to the tubes by adding 0% to 15% tax in one shot, and angering the local Islamists enough that they were willing to have a coup over it. Who was on that party... Winston Dookeran as acting PM. When it was time for Robinson to be out it was a landside victory and PNM won. Where did Dookeran go after that... UNC with Panday, in fact it was Panday who wanted him in the party (maybe against the wishes of some). For some reason Dookeran could not function within the UNC and left politics altogether only to later form his own party after some citizens petitioned his home. I honestly do not mind giving a chance to him, BUT the point is this... he is not going to win and the fault of his loss will be largely his own, in my opinion.
I understand that there may be fear in Voting for a new leader especially with the history of leadership in Trinidad. And I do feel we need to change some law as to once somone has become elected as PM, they cannot run another Time, this will forces parties to look for new leaders.
We need somebody other than Patrick Manning, he seems to be even more cocky than his usual self, if we were to elect Manning another year it would further solidify that there is no competition. He can very well become something short of a dictator. The Decisions he is making is moving Trinidad in the wrong direction.
Dookeran is the lesser of two evils and Maybe his attemp may sporn interest by deserving men to get into the political arena. I do think that he has some ways to go as a leader but none the less we have to take a chance since the country is so bad off and will continue to spiral out of control, could it get any worst than it is.
This is why it is so important that the PNM cannot server another Term.

Dookeran is the best man for the job! the intellect! Look at the people who`s on his side....only the brightest and the best! yea I agree that he needs to develop a stronger personality but...do we really need a show of forwardness and this loud raucous type of public speaking that manning and Panday show? people...we need change...as a matter of fact anything different from what we are currently experiencing is better than nothing... Dookeran is indeed the best man for the job... think about it! I know he has my vote.

Dookeran needs to change his speeches and most especially the way he gives them. Put some zest into it man - act like you are hurting from the core and stop bobbing your head as you talk - it is becoming cheesy. If you want to win then cut these things out and you will have more support.
The Express had its usual 20 questions interview, in this case with Winston Dookeran. He revealed a little of everything from wanting to change the way his tummy looks to his most embarrassing moment which is when he gets up and has nothing to say.
