Paper Clips

Which kind of Paper Clips do you generally use: stainless steel, plastic, coated or other?

At work, we use the coated paper clips. They are less prone to rip the page than stainless steel, and less likely to break than the flimsy plastic ones. We do have the stainless steel ones around as well, but we banished the plastic ones from our work place because they were not very strong and not very tough.

I'm a paperclip purist! Smooth stainless steel only, please!

Plastic, as Konq pointed out, is way too flimsy.

Vinyl coating drags and is not as sturdy. Also, I think the multicolors are not professional looking. How do you justify a pink or purple or striped paperclip on a multi-million-dollar financial statement? I don't think so.

The ridged stainless steel feels like fingernails on a chalkboard when you slide it on the paper ... and I guess they do hold more securely, but I can't stand that feeling.

Another type of clip I like is called the binder clip, or some people call them banker's clips. They are very secure and come in several different sizes from "mini" to "Big Kahuna" size.

I take my office supplies very seriously.

I don't use paper clips for work, only to keep my papers and letters safe at home, purely for family use.

With this being the case, I only buy brightly colored ones, purely because I don't have to have the stainless steel type ones!
