If there is an area in which you need to really do your homework prior to buying a home it would have to be Arkansas. Once you have an idea of what area you want to buy a house, take some time to go down to the local tax office (Or online where available) and look at the estimated average land value for the area. Also be sure that when you find a house to compare the asking price to the value that the tax office has on file as well. Real Estate in Arkansas is cheaper than most areas so if you don't do your homework you will over pay and never know it.
