Autism - Winning At Games

My son loves to play board games but he hates losing. Interesting enough, it happen with SOME games but not al of them. How can I go about teaching him te importance of enjoying a game without his obsession for winning?

Comments: Make the emphasis on skills development rather than on winning or loosing teaching concepts such as patience, turn taking and overall enjoyment of the social interaction.

But that's just it. We never make emphasis on winning or losing but is on his mind all the time, almost like if he does not win, his self confidence goes down and he feels he is not "smart".

Comments: You may want to change it up a bit. Depending on his age though, you may get resistance to this suggestion or even a tantrum.
Don't finish the game, play the game and then stage an interruption, ie the phone rings or you have to prepare dinner. After the interruption though ie during dinner you can talk about how much fun it was to play, and talk about what he liked best. The abstract concept of fun is a very hard one to teach concrete thinkers.
