Drug Abuse & Criminality

Is Drug Abuse and Criminality related or are they separate things that are often merged by the public's eye to be the same? What is your view?

Criminality and Abuse Drug

They are separate in my mind. I believe that they are unnecessarily merged by the government and the media's perpetuation of drug abuse and addiction. The fact is that drug use is, by enlarge, a victimless crime. The majority of drug users only hurt themselves by taking the drugs, thus no real crime is committed. But once you criminalize a drug, people will necessarily demonize it and consider it evil while its really no different than eating food that contributes to heart disease. Though its rarely that simple, its simple enough to see that a pot smoker doesn't harm anyone, and thus he should not be made a criminal and use up our tax dollars in prison.
