Colorado Running
Is Running in Colorado popular? What Colorado Tracks are available that Runners can use to practice Running? Is the sport developed or unknown? Even if it is not done locally, who are the most well known Colorado Runners?
Does Colorado have any well known marathons or races?
Running is huge in Colorado. On pretty days you will always see people out running. The higher elevations are great to help people become better runners by working with less oxygen and steep hills. They have a couple of fantastic races up here for starters. They have the Pikes Peak Marathon. The runners start out at about 6300' elevation and end up at 14110'. It is 26 miles long like a normal marathon but those 13 miles up the mountain are brutal. There is also another grueling race called the Leadville 100. It is in the Leadville area which is the highest incorporated city in the country at over 10000'. It is a 100 mile race that is pretty much all at least 10000' in elevation. Just a brutal race.
