One of our books of Scripture is called Doctrine and Covenants that reads:
QUOTE |
Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly; And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine. |
It is interesting that it says to use Alcohol on the exterior of the body. My mother in-law always has cheap rum in the house to rub her aches with! I though she was just hiding the fact she liked an odd nip! I will have to tell her this and apologize for my ill thoughts.
Thank you for the insight given here.
I went to the park this July 4 with my wife and son and our 6-month-old overactive dog. My wife brought up the wisdom of taking the dog for a walk/trot. I haven't done much physical exercise in a while, and was not sure what the outcome would be. I ran poochie up and down the hill twice, and felt just great! Not even out of breath. It wasn't until later that I thought of the promise of the Word of Wisdom, that I would run and not be weary. I didn't expect a positive outcome, but feel to be thankful for the Word of Wisdom promises in my life.
