OTTAWA - Belinda Stronach, who ran for the leadership of the Conservative party in early 2004, has crossed the floor to the Liberal party and will sit in Paul Martin's cabinet.

This presents a rather odd situation for the Canadian house. This has happened before in American politics as well. Anyone remember which side of the senate John McCain used to sit on? Thats right, he was a democrat. He is now a republican and has more friends and allies from both sides and from the people than any one senator I can think of. I wonder if this man will attempt to do the same, if he can, he will have more influence than he did before. This is either a career killer, or a career maker, there wont be much in between.

MPS PASS MOTION CALLING FOR FEBRUARY ELECTION
Federal MPs have passed an NDP motion that calls on Prime Minister Paul Martin to dissolve Parliament in January for a Feb. 13 election.

Well, well, do we have a new kind of Government to look forward to in the future or maybe I should not say 'look forward' as things may turn for a drastic turn with the many happenings in Canada including break aways, increases in crime, terrorism and other issues.

The three opposition parties have voted to bring down the minority government of Prime Minister Paul Martin. The no-confidence vote passed in the House of Commons at 7 p.m. Monday, meaning a general election call will come as early as Tuesday morning.
