"The easiest way to gain control of a population is to carry out acts of terror. [The public] will clamor for such laws if their personal security is threatened".
-- Josef Stalin
As Confederate statues fall in the U.S., Russians are erecting them for brutal Soviet dictator Josef Stalin. On the 80th anniversary of Stalin's 'Great Terror' purge, the late Soviet dictator is being hailed as a national icon who defeated the Nazis. Ref. USAToday.
Stalin was a man who shaped a lot of what we see in Russia today. While he killed many people to make sure he was in power and stayed in power he was looked at a evil dictator due to the fact that he was not trying to take over the world. It is now after many years that the rest of the world is getting to see what truly happened in Russia during his coming to power and beyond.
That's exactly the point, they don't really teach much about Stalin because was a Communist, which means the left, which equals good in the eyes of academia. So, his atrocities are swept under the rug. His quest for world domination is hidden and you have to search to find out about it. We built NATO to stop him and fought in Korea to stop him too. The Korean War was directly attributable to him too. Historians argue over exact numbers but he is responsible for between 10M to 20M deaths. He was a very bad man.
