I'm not certain that sentiment reflects what is happening today with Native Americans. Like any other minority group the aboriginals of America are not given just treatment in many social issues simply because that is what happens in the political world when you're not part of the majority.
I also feel that Native Americans need better representation in government. When last did you hear anything about the Native American's view in changing America?

Trust me, we natives like our cell phones, iPods, and computers just as much as anyone else. A lot of people have the misconception that we are all "nature children" who spend our days in the wild becoming one with Mother Earth or something. While a tiny fraction of our people do still live as our ancestors did, most of us are just as modern as white or black people. We drive cars, wear modern clothes except for at powwows and ceremonies, hold jobs, order pizzas, and go to concerts.
Like all minority groups in America, we aren't heard as often. However, we do utilize the internet and other forms of media to make ourselves heard and educate others. You just have to know where to look.
