I think that this is a relatively new phenomenon in society. I grew up on board games and now play mostly online games on the computer. I don't have trouble losing in front of others when I do play board games, but since I grew up with them, I am used to winning and losing in front of others. But I think the next generation will have this problem more than us. I have notice my son had issues losing, so I will deliberately beat him in video games, not allowing him to win, so that he can learn to lose gracefully. He has gotten allot better and doesn't throw a fit when he loses now. I think its up to parents to make sure that their children understand that they will lose sometimes and even to show them the proper way to lose.
Oh come on! Only a spoiled brat throws a fit when they lose a video game. I've been playing games my whole life board and computer, in my opinion I have just as many if not more social skills than a lot of people I know. Also are forgetting MMORPGs? Even though you may not see who you are playing with the social experience is powerful.
