Home Owner
Are you fortunate to be a Home Owner? If so, tell us how you came to be so fortunate.
Not a home owner yet, but an opportunity has come up recently. I have the opportunity to receive a grant that will help with the taxes and down payment. This will also allow me to keep my payments close to what they are now. If this doesn't go through, then it will be a while before I get into a house. The startup for a house is just so expensive.
Yes I am a home owner with no mortgage for about 2 months now
Have had my mortgage for 5 years, but also a number of shares & stocks, 2 of which matured with a growth of 500%, which allowed for me to pay off the debit in full.
And to tell you all, I would recommend this, If you have the finances available, but are debating if you should pay off the mortgage or go on that fabulous holiday you want, pay it off, the average cost of a monthly mortgage in the UK is about £300-£400, now add that up over a year, around the £4k mark.
Imagine the Hol that you can get for £4k every year, or save the money, or get a new car every 3 years, there is just sooosoh more that can be done.
I'm loving it, some may see this as glotgloatingt it seems as if a massive weight has been lifted, and I'm not the worrying type, but this massive financial debit has such a subcsubconsciousd over evereverything do.

If you do not currently own a home, I recommend you do all you can to purchase one or two or three. We bought our 3 bedroom home in 1993 for $86,000 and is now worth $275,000. In hindsight, had we bought three or four homes back then and rented the others out, we'd be in pretty good shape right now. However, back in 1993, I thought home prices were too high, they had been going up for years and I didn't see how they could go much higher. Boy, was I wrong.
We do not own it free and clear, in fact we owe more on it today than we did 13 years ago. Had to get out of debt and refinance. Our current interest rate is 5.25 pct but when we first bought it, it was 10.5 pct.
