Utahn Boy Gets Personal Letter From President Bush
I thought it was really nice from the President of the United States to answer the letter of a 8 years old boy. I thought it was sweet.

| A South Jordan boy gets the surprise of a lifetime via first class mail. 8-year-old Jordan Johnstone received a personal letter from the President of the United States and it all started with a boy and a book named Flat Stanley. Flat Stanley is the story of a boy who gets flattened by a bulletin board. When asked to visit relatives in California, Stanley's family can't afford a train or plane ticket; so they mail him. The book inspired Jordan Johnstone to "Flat Stanley" the President. Janice Johnstone, Jordans mother explained, "Jordan got this assignment at school and they were doing Flat Stanley's you're suppose to send it to a relative somewhere, someone far away. And our farthest relative is Syracuse. So we thought where else can we send it. And I just thought why not the White House." Jordan thought that was a great idea, "Because the President's wife used to be a teacher." Jordan mailed Flat Stanley at the end of his second grade year. "About three weeks into third grade is when he got his Flat Stanley back. But he was all excited and the first thing he wanted to do was show his second grade teacher," said Janice. The third grader was thrilled to get a letter from the President of the United States. The letter starts out "Dear Jordan, Thank you for sending your friend to the White House. Flat Stanley was respectful to everyone and was a good listener.... |

It's lovely in this day and age, to hear of a politician making a difference to a little boys life by doing something good. No doubt this moment for this boy will be hard to beat.
What a lovely story, can you imagine how excited he would be at taking that letter into school to show his friends? you're not going to get much better for 'show and tell' either!

That's wonderful of the President and is good publicity which, even in this state of complete support, he can really use right now. I like the sense of humor that came out of the White House when they wrote, "Flat Stanley was respectful to everyone and was a good listener....", indicating that Flat Stanley didn't have that much to say.
