Chi Attack
Is it true that you can hit your opponent with a Chi Attack and never have to touch him physically?
I saw a documentary done by National Geographic on this and it was later to be found as false. What they did was bring in a scientist to test the theory. He stood up in one place while a Chi Master tried to make him fall without touching him - didn't happen.
People are really quick to judge if something like Chi exists yet they hold on to their own religious beliefs that sound just as strange. Christian don't believe in Chi, but they believe in spiritual power. Easterners don't believe in the Holy spirit yet they believe in Chi. Scientist believe in Electromagnetic energy that is in everything, but you are a fool if you believe in spiritual energy. Agnostics call it the life force. The Zens call it the force and I would argue that it is all and the same. Different names for the same thing.
I saw the same documentary and I want a second opinion, or a 3rd. They were sent to disprove it. Send a scientist to prove it. Anyway that is what "Chi" tells me.
Just food for thought. The military has weapons that use Electromagnetic frequency that can destroy a person and it is also being used as a shield technology. Edited: Quasar on 15th Nov, 2008 - 6:43am
I am not saying yes or no with that particular case. The "Chi" did not work on some people but it worked on others. It supposedly affect believers and didn't affect the nonbelievers. It could be one big scam, but I believe these sorts of things exist. After all it pales in comparison to parting a Red Sea. Now that took a lot of Chi.
Assuming this Chi exists in this way; I would be more likely to question if this type of use would be considered Witchcraft or not.
Eehhh.... It seems everyone looks into Taoism too seriously. If you look at Taoism, a lot of their beliefs are quite scientific in nature.
Many people have debated that Chi was the old Chinese concept of kinetic energy. Like where almost all martial arts power their strikes using the hips and legs (Like a boxer making a slight torque in the foot matching the arm they punch with, that slight torque turns into supward movement of the leg and then torque in the hips, eventually the power is directed through a punch.)
Kung Fu fighters generally had a good understanding of biomechanics and it's likley that Chi was used to explain the relation between movement and energy. That powering strikes requires both physical strength and good technique in order to be effective.
Tai Chi for example is renowned for it's superb technique and muscle memory; like in the name CHI.
The movement, direction and application of kinetic energy.... If that makes sense.
I asked my sons sensi about this he is a master in Tia Chi as well. He said it is the life force that you are trying to focus. The idea is that if you can learn to focus is well enough you can deliver the one punch kill. Thus power fist and such super heroes are based on.
Yes killfrenzy it is the bio mechanics exploited to the fullest of your ability by focusing on your self. But the hardness of your fist can be altered by your chi. Or you focus your energy into your hand through the mechanics of motion but your life energy is also pushed with it. Result an increase in power (Possible you enable the taping of adrenaline), they also sense this flow of energy to help natural healing in the body.
So this is a layman's kick at what I was told. So I hope I got it all right.
