The Angels started off in Los Angeles, then were called the California Angels, then Anaheim, now they are back to being the Los Angeles Angels. So many name changes for a team that has not moved to a different state! In any case, the Angels, wherever they are, won a World Series title in 2002 under current manager Mike Scioscia. The team that won in 2002 is almost fully dismantled now save for Garret Anderson and Adam Kennedy. Gone are Troy Glaus, David Eckstein, and Bengi Molina. The good news is that the Angels were still able to win their division the last 2 years, and with addition Vlad Guerrero they look poised to win it again in 2006.
I think it shows good management and a good minor league farm team for them to keep up being competitive in todays baseball world. Its interesting to note that the Angels rarely have a mega star on their team, they just get it done together. Everybody does their part and adds a little something to them.
The Los Angeles Angels and marquee free agent Josh Hamilton agreed on a five-year contract Thursday, two high-ranking executives with direct knowledge of the talks told USA TODAY Sports.
