I knew most of the above, but was surprised by this and has been back up by many Taiwanese I have met here: Source 2
I guess I had the classic westerner's view of Chiang Kai-shek and have had to do some more thinking on his life...how about your thoughts?

I have no position for two reasons. One, I do not really understand the conflict of the two countries / territories in a way that someone native to Taiwan or China would and second, history is based on the person who wrote it so you only get their view. Even so the "White Terror" Period seems to paint a dark picture on his reign of power.
