Schoolgirl arrested for refusing to study with non-English pupils
A teenage schoolgirl was arrested by police for racism after refusing to sit with a group of Asian students because some of them did not speak English. Codie Stott's family claim she was forced to spend three-and-a-half hours in a police cell after she was reported by her teachers.

Why is it that I really don't feel we are getting the whole story here? This is definitely not a crime that warrants arrest. The teacher should be educated on what is a real crime and what is an attitude that needs correction.

The girl in the photo looks like she will speak her mind if necessary. It could be that she also gave trouble other times and wanted to use this event to straighten her out. However, and this is with not knowing the whole story... I believe students should be able to sit where they want so long as they are not disrupting students.
I read the article and definitely there is much in the story we do not know about. I think the girl is not being honest, I completely understand her not want to sit with students that do not speak her language and have the task to "discuss" an assignment if they do not speak English. That's why I think it is so important for these kids to have a class where they can learn the language first and then enter into a normal classroom.
The feeling I get from the story is that the girl indeed do not like foreigners and even if she was being a racist, I do not think she should have been put in a cel. Every school is supposed to have rules and regulations concerning issues of this matter and consequences for such ignorant behavior.
