One thing is guaranteed if Romney gets the White house bid... Every move he makes there will be the question... Is this Mormon doctrine behind this decision? Mitt Romney is doing what Joseph Smith couldn't do.

Church Mormon and Romney Mitt

I was hesitant to join in on this tread, so long it was, when I first saw it, being relatively new.

I would not vote for person, just because they are Mormon, as has already been said, I would not vote for Senator Harry Reid, he is so not Mormon in his basic beliefs, and his stand is so public about his belief, surprised he has not been excommunicated or dis-fellowshipped shipped; have not heard, maybe he is inactive or ?.

The first time I heard X Utah Gov. Huntsman, thought, wow, another Mormon, appears more charismatic and better spoken then Romney. But then he is also very liberal no family voting person as well, maybe like Reid.

I guess it is hard to be in politics and have it not affect you, or they had those values before running.

Romney would not be my first choice, but given what else there is to vote for, don't seen a better choice. I remember a recent comment from a political analyst, he said, sometimes plan and simple can be best.

A true Mormon or Latter-day Saint, puts others before himself, though that is not to say, on critical moral beliefs and values, that will be the case. In the end, we are the sum total of our past existence. But cannot see an active Mormon living their faith, forcing our beliefs on others. To me, it is like Star Trek and the prime directive of non interference.

Talking to God, taking orders from him, read the history, many presidents have felt prompted by God, even the first, George Washington, then what about George Bush, but then this one scares me a bit. Cannot see the Prophet of the Church eve directing Romney or a President of the US, counseling I can see, like anyone has the right to do.

Vote for Romney, wish he was more of what I wanted in member, but given the choices, it comes down to at least, the better of two evils, Romney or Obama again.

I see and have felt something about Romney, the News Media and etc, they seem to be leaving him alone so far, not toasting him like others who have risen, then fallen. I am thinking that the liberals and the Liberal News Media, have picked him, as the best person to loose against Obama.

A person's belief does play a bit on their politics BUT if they are truly to be a representative of the people then they have to abide by what the majority of people want otherwise it become a theocracy.

Mormon Polygamy & Mitt Romney?

A Washington Post editorial writer believes the history of conflict between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the United States of America over the issue of polygamy is relevant more than 100 years later because of the presidential possibilities of Mitt Romney. Ref. Source 6

Could this Romney gaffe cost him the election?

Mitt Romney has had some questionable responses to seemingly easy to defend attacks - such as the idiotic barrage of 'Capitalist!' darts thrown at him a few weeks ago. Plus he's had a few Biden-esque moments, providing the media with lines like 'I like to fire people' and other things that make him sound super elitist. But his latest mistake has even fellow conservatives scratching their heads: 'I'm not concerned with the poor' is the quote, and the context isn't much better Ref. Source 1

The more we get to know Mitt, the less I'm likely to vote for him. Mormon or not, he's presenting himself as an arrogant jerk. The Democrats are laughing at the GOP, they won't have to work very hard to win the election this year with all these idiots fighting with each other. I'm embarrassed by the whole process.

I will say again, I think the liberal news media and the Democrats are using Romney, they are letting him float to the top, by drown all of the challengers one at a time. I think they figure, when push comes to shove, in a general election, Evangelicals and others right wing Christan groups and etc, will not vote for him, against Obama.

I think he has a chance, if he takes Ron Paul or the other more conservative GOP runner, other then Newt for Vice President; they would I think help Mit to win,and influence him to be more Conservative.

The poor don't need his help, that seems out of context. He was trying to say, the focus should be on the vast middle class of the US. They are one ones who over all make things happen, they are the ones which turn the machinery of this nation, they are the workers who cloth and feed the rest of us. If they are productive and well, so will the rest of us. The middle class are the ones hurting and become the nations future poor and homeless.

I think MIT's biggest problem, he does not know how to talk to people, and gets caught in what he feels and it does not come out right, a lot of time.

I wish we had a better example of LDS person running for office, but don't think if one did run, they would not make. The people might like him, but the media would fry them.

I have observed over the years, that the media only lets those run and get ahead, if they so choose to let them. We only to get to vote for their choices, so that is why it leads me to believe, that then want Mit to win, thinking he would be the easiest for Obama to beat.

Comments: Its still too early. Mitt Romney looks like he is going to win but things can change quickly. I think the latest poll had him tied with Rick Santorum. As far as being LDS and my vote for him... I would rather have someone with similar beliefs in office than one that did not.
