What is the likelihood of someone who has run before to run again and win? The main problem politicians like Mitt Romney face is the conservative Christians that do not consider Mormonism as a Christian religion.
That is a problem - the so-called mainstream Christianity looks down on Mormons as a cult, rather than valid Christians. (Which is ridiculous, but that rant's for another thread.) But his chances of a repeat with a win I think are very slim - unless the opposition doesn't have a good candidate. Is Mitt the only Republican going for 2012? Not likely. And I think Mormonism is still too foreign for most people.

"I think most people do have an awareness that Govs. Romney and Herbert are close friends. I don't think that's a secret," Demma said. "Of course it helps to have strong supporters like Romney cheering for us." Herbert backed Romney's presidential bid in 2008, even though then-Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. Was a strong supporter of the eventual GOP nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain. Ref. Source 2
For those of you wondering if Mitt Romney will downplay his religious background here is a news clip:
While Gov. Romney's faith is an indicator as to his principles, I would not vote for him, or any candidate, for that matter, based solely upon his religion. I would support his candidacy because of the values and principles he espouses, but more importantly, his positions on the issues of the day.
