The trouble started brewing in March 2007 when Romney distanced himself from Anderson in an Associated Press article.
"Romney sought to minimize his relationship with Anderson, once a prominent example of bipartisan camaraderie. The two worked closely together when Romney ran the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. 'He was a mayor that worked well with me during the Olympics, and I supported his work as a mayor," said Romney. 'I do not endorse or support his views on "¦ almost any other issue, particularly that's unrelated to being a mayor.'" Ref. Source 5
Romney - Mission In France
GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's two-and-a-half years as a Mormon missionary in France had a significant impact on his personal and business life, according to a YouTube video of a pep talk he gave to the French during the 2002 Olympics that's now making its way around the blogs. According to this Reuters report home schoolers in Iowa don't like Romney because he is a Mormon. They voted against him in the last election.

Comments: I want the Republicans to win, therefore please don't vote for Mitt Romney in the next GOP election. The whole Mormon background thing will cause him to lose against Obama.
Romney Defends His Faith
The anticipated back-to-back speaking appearances of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association, who said recently that Latter-day Saints aren't Christian and are therefore not entitled to First Amendment protections, materialized Saturday morning at the annual Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C. Romney Pledges to De-Fund Planned Parenthood as President
To earn the Republican presidential nomination, businessman and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney must convince pro-life voters that they can trust him to change course on abortion 180 degrees from that of pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
Romney worked on that in his speech before the values Voter Summit on Saturday, where he put forward a more extensive pro-life platform than he typically does in stump speeches.
"Our values must also encompass the life of an unborn child," Romney told the thousands of pro-life advocates gathered for the Family Research Council event. "There are, of course, strong convictions on both sides of this issue. Yet it speaks well of our country that almost all Americans recognize that abortion is a problem."
"The law may call it a right, but no one ever called it a good. And in the quiet of conscience, people of both political parties know that more than a million abortions a year can't be squared with the good heart of America," Romney said.
The former governor pivoted from a philosophical position to talking about his political views and what he would do if elected president.
"I support the Hyde Amendment, which broadly bars the use of federal funds for abortions," Romney said, "As president, I"ll end federal funding for abortion advocates like Planned Parenthood. I"ll protect a health care worker's right to follow their conscience in their work." "I will nominate judges who know the difference between personal opinion and law. It is long past time for the Supreme Court to return the issue of abortion back to the states by overturning Roe v. Wade," he added. Ref. Source 3
