First Day of Summer
How do I know when is the First Day of Summer in the USA?
Summer Solstice marks the first day of summer. This is the longest day of the year and occurs on or around June 21. When it is Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere it is Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere and visa versa.
Not to mention how depressing it can be. Today is solstice and from here on the days start getting shorter. Now granted, I am looking at close to 24 hours of daylight right now, but it changes quickly. And we have yet to see more than a week of consecutive warm days. So "summer" is a relative term. It may officially be summer now but looking out my window you wouldn't know it.
