Republican Introduction Sharing Member & Introductions
Welcome to the forum!
Just a quick couple of points for you to keep in mind.
Since this is a
discussion forum, we all need to provide detail for our arguments, and be very clear in our thoughts. One line arguments are not looked upon with any degree of fondness. They rarely provide anything to the discussion.
Sometimes, some of us (especially moderators) may post things that SOUND like it is our own opinions or points of view, but may not be. Now, I am not good at doing that, since I tend to be passionate about some subjects, and am not good at dissembling. However, if we DO this, we do so not to fool people, but to stimulate discussion.
Try very hard not to be offensive. It is entirely possible to disagree without being disagreeable or offensive. When we are offensive or disagreeable (which I have been at times) it tends to stifle discussion.
It looks to me like you are probably a strong supporter of the Republican party within the United States. You should remember that quite a few of our members are not US citizens, and view things from cultures that are quite foreign to ours. So, many of your and my assumptions are not shared by many people. For example, one member has shown me (and himself) that compared to much of the rest of the world, the Democrats and the Greens are almost conservative in outlook. So, keep in mind that some of our words and concepts won't say the same things to other members that they say to us.
Sorry to write so much, but having just responded to the topic on "which nations do more for the poor", I really got thinking about how the different assumptions make such a difference in how data is viewed.
Anyway, welcome to the forum. I hope that you will be very active, and
contribute a lot of
constructive input to the discussions here.
