I've been known to be wrong, but I believe Kerry is done, finished, gone, no matter how much of his wife's money he spends to attempt a comeback.
I judged it based on the background laughter. The ones on the video did not seem to be into what he was saying really. On the surface, a statement like that CAN fly past you until you either: think more deeply about what he is saying, or know someone in Iraq.
What would be great to get is the text he was actually supposed to say as opposed to what he did say, and compare the two.
What he was supposed to say:
QUOTE |
"I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq." |
QUOTE |
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq |
The "official" version of what he was supposed to say was released by Kerry's handlers. We have no way of knowing whether or not any of that was actually in the original version of his speech. Kerry may have just said that comment off-the-cuff, and his people tried desperately for damage control after the fact to save face. The fact is, we will never know for sure one way or the other. All we do know is that the man said an incredibly *stupid* thing and he will *never* live it down.
Isn't it just wonderful that we haven't heard a word from ole John in several days? I'll bet the next sound he hears next time he offers to "help" is "click!"
Rather off topic, but... LDS, you are such a sweetheart! You always look for the bright side of an incident, or what someone might have said. People like you are really special. I hope you live long and prosper. |
