[In my opinion] leeching shouldn't be a concern, as long as the people are LDS. If they paid their money, they may feel they paid for the right to read only. Especially since there is so much to read here, and some threads are years old. Some people may feel intimidated to post for awhile. I myself feel that way a little bit. The leeching that I would be more concerned about is, from the anti's. I wouldn't want them coming here to get information, that they could twist, and use as ammunition some where else. So I can see you wanting people to post. That seams the only way to be able to tell where they stand. The anti's seem to not be able to help themselves.

I would have been willing to wait for an invitation, and/or answer a questionnaire.

This is a common misconception. Anyone feeling so may not have read our Policy and Rules. You made a Donation, and as a courtesy after checking some of your LDS related Posts we allow you greater access to parts of the Community we hold more precious than public content as a way to say "Thank you". Saying it is a "right" is not correct. Nothing in the Community is a "right".

Well that is the point. On one hand you say leeching should not be a concern but even you admit that unless a person contributes to the content here then you cannot know their intentions - hence participation is a requirement not an option. One of the main requirements of entry here is that the Member must be positive LDS and not an Anti or some off shoot zealot like Amonhi who has beliefs he wants to impose that are far from LDS Doctrine.

Appreciated. We have been Discussing how to implement this, but have not a real clear solution. The problem is if the script checked when you last posted here and found its been awhile then it will deny you access, but then what... how will you make it up if you are denied? The one solution we thought of is making sure the Member built back their activity by making them Post in the LDS Deep Doctrine Board, but once they did that it does not mean that they will necessarily post in the Mature LDS Section.

Maybe what can be done is that the user must Post in the Mature LDS section within a certain time frame and if they do not they lose the ability to read and it must be restored by Admin with the understanding that you must participate or you can lose it again.

If you have suggestions then feel free to give input.

I was just trying to consider other peoples perspective, but anyways point taken. You have one of the best communities I've found on the net, All my respect to you. Re: Amonhi. I read through all the C&E and Amonhi doctrine. I think you handled him pretty well. I was about to post, but by the time I got to the end of everything, I saw there was no need to say what I was thinking. I was happy to see you protect the community like that.

Yes, some do have that perspective, usually they are trouble makers and when they want something changed do you start with "I paid my money..." as though they bought stock in International Discussions, however I understand what you meant by bringing it up.

Glad you did, many thought we were too harsh on him which is very strange for me. Someone comes in here preaching the most false doctrine on the planet and yet they considered us in the wrong for protecting the Community - I never could understand that. I think some people were hoping that some of his more tantalizing ideas were true.

It's people like Amonhi and other leeches that have caused us to consider the rules we have here. Since you brought it back up I think I will make a note to implement something now.
