If I understand this "Deep doctrine" correctly, it will give us LDS members a forum for discussions that does not seem to be allowed in our Sunday school, relief society and priesthood meetings. I would be extremely happy to be able to discuss all these topics that any one can read about in the journal of discourses and other historical papers. It bothers me that I cannot have a deep discussion in my HP quorum meeting, where most have been bishops, High Council members, stake presidencies, returned mission presidents and we even have our stake patriarch in our quorum. A pool of enormous doctrinal knowledge and understanding. Yet we can only talk about the milk and not the meat parts. I see this as slowing down our eternal progression. And that is sad. So you are a greatly needed board.
Not sure what you mean. This Thread is about the LDS Mature Board, a hidden place for Discussion. The LDS Deep Doctrine Board is public access and yet it allows you to share your views about 'deeper' doctrines excluding those mentioned in the first Post of this Thread.
JB,
There are some topics I'm interested in that I would consider 'Deep Doctrine', one is "How many believe we may have more than one life on this earth?" I do. I've heard it said that we are born where we are by what we did in the pre-existence. If you think about it, we don't have bodies there and our experience would be limited. However if the word pre-existence really means a previous life where were able to overcome THE WORLD we lived in, gaining some spiritual strength, then I could see where we would be blessed to have the opportunity to have the gospel. I would admit there are some who wouldn't need more than one life, but I feel I'm not one of those.
Is this deep enough?
JB
I've spent many years reading many things and I haven't thought to write down where my favorite things come from. So I will try to go back and see if I can find those quotes from the prophet about 'eternal lives'. It's going to take some time and I've got alot of other projects going.
In the mean time, enjoy the Book of Jasher.
I have not planned to read the Book of Asher. I also await your source material for your opinions. I find that most of what Members put here or in the public LDS Board are largely opinion and when you show them what is actual Doctirne they are shocked and go silent to see how wrong they are about some urban legend or myth they heard from some other Church source.
Book of Jasher is very entertaining, an excellent read. While perusing through Brigham Youngs Journal of Discourses, there was a newspaper reporter questioning President Young about the beliefs of our church and one question was, "Do we believe in reincarnation?" He replied, "We don't teach it and we don't teach against it." That surprised me!
Anyway I've got (sorry) more important jobs in life to work on and little time for looking up this reference, but the next time you go to the temple, really listen to the multiple worlds part and the dialog of key individuals of the endowment.
We all have more important jobs, but when posting here sources are needed. We also have Threads dealing specifically with the Book of Asher and the Endowment, this Thread was meant to focus on was said in the first Post:
