Comments: When reading these personal, righteous and blind views, I suddenly want to scream. Can anyone back up these (Statements) with proof of a bullshit stamp.
The truth is that we are all right. Remember that as humans we have only lived a fraction of time (compared to) almost any animal you see today. Politics,Religion,
or any other excuse that people want to fantasize about makes no difference. We create wars DUE TO PERSONAL BELIEF.
I, Me, Ours, Us, You, We... Should all wake up and equally distribute wealth, status and belief. You write very well Mr anti-christian. Imagine if you could point those smarts to a village in Africa etc.
Ivy league (Politics) (Law schools) (Medicine)(Religion) have never made a dent in our human progress. Has anyone ever stopped in there busy lives and just listened to the wind? Things we take for granted! Now I realize what I'm writing is also an opinion. A human decision. We have to cherish and embrace indifference. Use it as a tool.
Did you know that there is Medicine in religion, politics in law, politics in Medicine, Law in Religion and so on. Do you believe that any of these opinions (including mine)make a difference? All I know is Humans will continue to destroy humans until we are no more. Steven Hawkings wants to know "how we began".What does this matter if we dont know where were going?
My favorite word is (POLUTION).
Any ideal or process of doing things is a religion in itself. The Christian right or the liberal left are no different. I honestly prefer that someone's religious views does not affect my freedom to do things how I see fit but that's what democracy is about, the majority who think the same rule what other do or don't do.
My main problem with the Christian right is they do not always have it "right". I don't agree with imposing your interpreted values on the rest of the population. This is the same reason the prohibition failed.
Hmm, more junk from that site.
We have always known that Democracy is inefficient. It ALWAYS ends up with the people voting for greater debt, bread and circuses. It also always leads to greater corruption. That is why, when the Constitution was being written, the founders decided on a democratic Republic.
The free market has always, and will always, provide the greatest amount of economic good for the greatest number of people. Those who support a state-controlled economy (read socialism) as that site does, know that it is a way for the elite to control the people. There has been one great successful socialist economy, and it only lasted a few years. That was Germany under National Socialism. The only way to implement socialism is through fascism. And fascism comes through corrupt people getting into power through pure democracy.
None of the parties or subgroups have it "all" right. The key is finding the one that closest aligns with your ideas of how much government you want in your life or which one is the least wrong. For the most part, republicans and democrats are the same. However, there are a few key ideas that separate them.
Reading the delightful piece from information clearinghouse (it is like waste removal for journalism), I am left to wonder how this ends up in the Christian Right?
While I would love to make sure that if I ever stood before a jury of my peers, I would like to make sure they are really what one would consider peers and not a set group that happen to be available on the weekdays and able to be pried from daily soap operas and game shows. I like the idea that people know who they are voting for and not just able to decern a D from a R or a R from a D. That isnt voting...that is a eye exam. While I like these ideas, they arent legal and never should be legalized.
We don't live in a socialist country or a democracy. Just as Nighthawk has said, we are a Democratic Republic. I might even go as far to say a Democratic Socialist Republic with all the programs currently in place since the great depression. While I like free markets, they need guidelines like anyone else as our history shows that if there are ways to pervert the system...the system will be perverted (S&L Scandal, Sub Prime, etc...). The guidelines need to be loose enough to allow freedom but not to loose as to allow the creation of bubbles that are the result of immediate greed. Our government is a mixed government that is a delicate balance. If swung too far to either side, the results are very negative for the economy.
I am just not seeing where this is a religious right issue.
That article was quite a read.
First, I agree I don't see the religious right as being particularly mentioned here - you could argue, as he did early in his article, on time, that the majority of Tea Parties and such are sponsored by them, but past that, I agree with the disclaimer for this topic here, "This is not about religion, this is about politics..." I do however, though he doesn't mention it here, despite the topic title, believe that religious fundamentalism IS fueling the majority of public policy where the denial of freedoms of groups they disagree with or find "abhorrent" are a matter of routine.
Having said that, I agree with some of the author's points and observations and if some of the things are even close to accurate representations and quotes, then I have to say people SHOULD be alarmed at the thoughts some of our legislature and influential thinkers and policy makers believe and want for the country. I did however, some points of the "other side", though not as many, but that isn't really surprising, given the article's rabid bias.
Overall, more than one of these kinds of articles would have be taken and compared to those of opposing views, to get a somewhat better understanding of the positions of each.
