I have certainly taken up a task, impossible I don't think I will use this to describe it. The response has been great thus far. This is certainly not a one man program everyone is involved. The ideas we started with include passing these two laws Chambers-Andrews-Luke-Annamunthodo Law to attend to the child abuse situation and the Drug Trafficking Act. Then we are also seeking for the amendment of the Kidnapping Act and the Domestic Violence Act. We have simply included mandatory sentences to each of the aforementioned laws. These laws really need to be enforced to deal with those who commit these crimes. We know this is only one part, but for a house to be built you must lay its foundation first. Recently I read about a kidnapper being granted bail and being freed. Is this for real? The court is telling this individual well you know what you did was not in anyway a disturbance of the peace, so you can go back into society and commit this act again. This is where these cases need to be examined. Cases have this tendency of prolonging for years upon years and then they are either dismissed or the witness pulls out in the last minute because he is scared. A lack of protection for witnesses is another issue that needs to be addressed. While I do not have all the answers, I know many of my fellow Trinbagonians are brewing with suggestions. Therefore, please feel free to pass them on. Other issues that need to be addressed are mandatory foot patrols, education and the rights of the child just to name a few.
Looks like this honey can't stand the pressure of real constructive Discussion. Plenty of words with no source or continuance gives me a headache.
