Recipe detials:

3/4 c Shortening

1/4 c Unsalted butter

1 1/2 c Packed light brown sugar

2 lg Eggs; lightly beaten

2 tb Grated orange peel

1/4 c Orange juice

1 ts Vanilla

1 c Buttermilk

3 1/2 c Sifted all-purpose flour

2 ts Baking powder

1 ts Baking soda

1/4 ts Salt

1 c Semisweet chocolate morsels

Recipe by: St. Louis Post-Dispatch 10/28/96 Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using electric mixer, cream together shortening, butter and brown sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, orange peel, orange juice, vanilla and buttermilk until well-combined. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in separate bowl. Blend into butter mixture until combined. Stir in chocolate morsels. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls onto 2 greased baking sheets. Bake 12 Janice Wald Henderson.
