"I booked a trip to Washington, D.C., for July 19-July 26. I booked the air tickets, hotel + a rental car through Hotwire. ... Getting mentally prepared for my trip, I was reading reviews on the hotel and someone mentioned what a 'treat' it was to get the 'river view' rooms where they could see the glistening river and watch planes land at night. Sounds magical.

Upgrades Hotel To How
If you get to a hotel and want a specific room being friendly helps you get perks. I have been behind some rather rude people in lines and have gotten upgrades and perks from the people behind the desk when I talk to them. Usually I walk up and make small talk with them as they are assisting me. I have found the more polite, soft spoken and willing to wait a bit you can get some perks if they are available.
